Josh's first day of preschool was today! Here he is with the book bag his teacher made for him. Here he is looking so grown up- and with pretty messy hair (he refused to let me make him "cute" for his first day of school. So independent these days!)

Jake's mom is deathly afraid of heights. She's always said that when she turned 50 she would conquer her fear by skydiving. Well, she turned 50 this year and her kids held her to it. As part of the reunion her and all her kids went skydiving!

We just got back from our trip to Jake's mom's house in Buena Vista, Colorado where we had our reunion this year. I'll get more pics from Brea to post later- but here's a few from my camera. You can probably tell from this first set that we had a 60's theme- "Peace". The costume competition was a crack up! The theme had a spiritual element as well though- and so our three devotionals were all centered around the theme of peace. As always, it was a lot of fun!
Our plane did not fly quite as well as it had in our preliminary testing - but we did win first place for design. We also won first place in the egg toss. Combined with good points in costume, poetry memorization and shooting we ended up winning first place in the overall family competition. This means that we signed our name on back of the wood monkey home and brought it home, where we have to display it somewhere in our home for the next year!
Oh- and we car pooled out there with Rick, Jenny and McKyla. We put all three kids in the back seat of the Tahoe and they actually did pretty good- thanks to animated movies and lots of snacks and stickers!
The weather didn't cooperate really well. Our hiking, habitat for humanity service project, and softball were all rained out. Some of us did get a little kayaking in. We had a great time white water rafting on Wednesday though, pretty much everyone but me, Becca and Jenny went skydiving on Thursday- and the rest of the time we found lots of other ways to entertain ourselves: games, vollyball at the junior high gym, bocce ball between rain storms, as well as riding motorcycles (I had a near death experience on one- but its laughable now), 4 wheelers, etc etc. I mean really- reunions are all about just being together- and that's where the fun was.

So a few people expressed interest in seeing the finished photos from Josh and Dekker's photo shoot in CA. My sister sent me a web album with LOTS of cute stuff from the shoot- unfortunatly she can't send me copies of the edited ones that she sent in (darn copyright stuff...). BUT here are the two photos she used as her starting point. I used my VERY limited software and editing knowledge to try and give you an idea of what they were going for. She took the one of Dekker's bum to make it look like a cherubim flying through the sky. The one of Josh looked like a bronzed statue almost. Pretty adorable if you ask me!
