This handsome fellow. I think he's pretty dang cute. Being the middle child, not yet able to do all his big brother gets to do, and not the baby who gets all those attentions, he does probably get the short end of the stick more than he'd like these days. We do love our Dekkerman!!!!

This may be more than most of you want to watch- but you have to at least what the Chicken Dance (the first part). The acting of Billy Goat's Gruff and presentation of "diploma" are more for the grandparents and family out there who have the stamina for that sort of thing. Just be thankful I edited it down from the hour of video we came home with! Believe me it wasn't easy since I think Josh is the cutest little performer! He doesn't mind a spotlight at all, and neither does his dance partner, Gracie. She's his favorite friend from preschool- and after watching them perform I can see why; together they're both very loud and animated.

Just got back from her checkup.
Weight: 14.4 lbs, 20%
Length: 26", 62%
Some of you may remember when I did a similar photo shoot for Dekker's six month mark. Those are some of my favorite pics of him, and so I thought I'd try to do the same for "NomNom". It's too bad I didn't do one for Josh since I really think she looks even more like him. All three of them are just too stinkin' cute though! They grow up WAY too fast.

I had a very nice Mother's Day. Jake and the boys made me breakfast while I got some one-on-one snuggle time with Naomi. There was a super sweet Mother's Day video that my sister helped the boys make posted on my Facebook. We went to church, I got to talk to my mom, Josh picked me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, Jake made shrimp scampi with baked potatoes and artichokes for dinner. The usual 2nd Sunday crew (Garrett, Kari, and Trish) came over and Brea and Tom even came by. Motherhood is something that truly deserves celebration and praise. I'm so thankful for all the many wonderful women in my life that have been such friends, examples, and guides and I am eternally grateful for my three little ones who have bestowed me with the wonderful title of "Mom".

I've been trying to do a special "kid activity" each Wednesday with the boys. Since yesterday was Cinco de Mayo, and Jake and I both have a fondness for Latin culture (both having served missions in south Texas) I figured we'd make a fun day out of it. We started off with a little geography lesson about Mexico and talked about some of the fun cultural aspects of that region. Then we had quesadillas for lunch (the whole time I was speaking in Tex-Mex, which the boys thought was hilarious). After lunch we headed to the Mexican Market (we have one just a couple miles away!) where we bought queso fresco, pico de gallo, avocados n such for dinner, and then the boys talked me into getting a pinata. We filled the pinata and had a fun whacking session with the neighbor kids. I made shredded beef tacos for dinner, and home made horchata! It was pretty dang tasty, even if I do say so myself. Living in South Texas for a year and a half definetly gave me a taste for Fresh Mex food. Anyways, after dinner we danced to Latin music (thank you Pandora) and Naomi was cracking up at all our silliness. It really was a fun day, I just hope the boys don't expect THAT big of a production for all of our "kid activity days" from now on.

The other day Jake was laughing and saying that Naomi is "like a carp" these days. I don't really like him comparing my cute little girl to an ugly carp- but in the sense that they both pretty much always have their mouths open waiting to suck in whatever gets near.... he's kinda right.
I'm glad Josh and Dekker love their little sister, but most of the time I'm asking them to "give her space" and "stop smothering her". I had to laugh this morning though when Dekker was laying down next to her and he said, "Look Mom, Naomi is going to kiss my back!" Sure enough, when he laid down right next to her she reached over and tried to suck (or "kiss") his head. I quickly pulled out the camera to document it.
